Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of isolated heavy rainfall across Kerala today, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h.
Districts including Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Malappuram are likely to experience intense showers in isolated areas. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, and Kozhikode.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, as lightning poses a serious threat. People are advised to unplug electrical appliances and avoid using electronic devices, including telephones, during thunderstorms.
During periods of strong winds and lightning, doors and windows should be kept securely closed, and individuals should stay away from them. Officials also recommend staying indoors and minimizing contact with walls or floors to reduce risk.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated with weather alerts and take all necessary precautions to ensure safety.
