Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored India’s vast transformative potential and its growing leadership in the global Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution while addressing a major AI summit. Emphasising that India’s demographic dividend, digital infrastructure, and innovation ecosystem position the country as a global technology powerhouse, the Prime Minister said AI will play a crucial role in driving inclusive growth, improving governance, and accelerating economic progress. PM highlighted initiatives such as Digital India, expanding semiconductor manufacturing, and the rapid growth of India’s startup ecosystem as key pillars supporting the nation’s AI ambitions.
However, the summit’s opening day was marred by technical and logistical issues, prompting Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to publicly apologise for the inconvenience caused to participants and delegates. Acknowledging the disruptions, The minister assured that corrective measures had been taken to ensure smooth proceedings in subsequent sessions and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making India a global hub for AI innovation.
Meanwhile, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticised the government over what he termed “mismanagement” at the high-profile event. Mallikarjun Kharge questioned the preparedness and planning behind the summit, arguing that such glitches undermined India’s global image in the technology sector.
Despite the initial setbacks, the summit continued with discussions focusing on ethical AI, responsible innovation, skill development, and India’s roadmap to becoming a leading player in the global AI ecosystem.
