New Delhi: Veteran actor Mohanlal has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights, with his petition set to be heard today by Justice Jyoti Singh.
In a significant move reflecting growing concerns over digital misuse, Mohanlal has urged the court to prohibit the unauthorized use of his voice, image, and dialogues in AI-generated videos, advertisements, and other commercial content without his consent.
The plea comes at a time when the misuse of celebrity identities through artificial intelligence is on the rise. Notably, the Delhi High Court has previously granted relief to Bollywood stars such as Anil Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan, recognizing and protecting their personality rights.
With increasing instances of deepfake content and unauthorized endorsements, courts have been actively stepping in to safeguard public figures. Most recently, actress Sonakshi Sinha also sought similar legal protection, highlighting the urgency of regulating AI-driven content.
The outcome of Mohanlal’s petition could further strengthen legal safeguards for celebrities in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
