Thiruvananthapuram: In a major move towards digital transactions, the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) has announced that cash payments will no longer be accepted at its self-help premium counters across Kerala from March 15.
As per a directive issued by Managing Director Harshita Attaluri, liquor sales at all self-help premium counters will be conducted entirely through cashless payment methods. Customers will be able to pay only via UPI or card transactions.
Authorities have instructed outlet staff to strictly follow the new rule. Notices informing customers that cash will not be accepted from tomorrow have already been displayed outside outlets in multiple languages, including Hindi.
The transition to a fully digital payment system had been set in motion earlier, with preparatory steps beginning on February 15 to ensure smooth implementation across the premium counters.
