Lucknow: Marking a major milestone in India’s infrastructure growth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the ambitious Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh—one of the country’s longest greenfield expressways.

Spanning 594 km and built at a cost of ₹36,230 crore, the expressway connects Meerut to Prayagraj, slashing travel time for a nearly 600 km journey to just six hours. Designed as a six-lane highway with provisions to expand into eight lanes, it supports speeds of up to 120 km/h and was completed at a remarkable pace.

The mega corridor cuts across 12 districts—Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj—creating a powerful connectivity spine across the state.

Beyond faster travel, the expressway is expected to unlock massive economic potential. The state government plans to develop 12 integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters along the route, with around 6,507 acres already earmarked.

Investor interest is already surging, with 987 proposals worth nearly ₹47,000 crore received—signaling a transformative boost to industry, trade, and regional development.

The Ganga Expressway stands as a bold step toward faster mobility and accelerated economic growth in India’s most populous state.
