New Delhi: In a strong push for women’s empowerment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the swift implementation of the women’s reservation policy, signaling readiness to align with key demands raised by the Opposition.
Describing the reform as a “defining moment for 21st-century India,” Modi called for political consensus to ensure that women receive greater representation in law-making bodies without further delay.
The proposed quota aims to reserve 33% of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. While the move has garnered broad support across party lines, Opposition leaders have been pressing for a clear timeline and immediate execution, particularly in relation to pending census and delimitation processes.
Government sources suggest that efforts are underway to bridge differences and accelerate implementation, reflecting a more accommodating stance amid mounting political pressure.
With elections on the horizon and women voters playing an increasingly decisive role, the push for the women’s quota is being viewed as both a landmark reform and a significant political moment that could reshape India’s democratic landscape.
