New Delhi: In a significant boost amid the ongoing fuel concerns, India is set to receive a major LPG shipment today as the Indian vessel Jag Vikram arrives with 20,400 metric tons of fuel. The ship, carrying 24 crew members, is expected to dock at Kandla Port in Gujarat.
The vessel began its journey on April 11 after crossing the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz—a key global oil transit route—marking a crucial development in ensuring energy supply stability.
Officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways confirmed the arrival, highlighting that this shipment could provide much-needed temporary relief to the country’s fuel situation.
Notably, Jag Vikram is the first Indian ship to navigate through the Strait of Hormuz after the recent 14-day ceasefire understanding between United States and Iran, making its journey both strategically and diplomatically significant.
Earlier, Iran had stressed the need for additional safety measures for vessels passing through the region. However, Mohammad Fattahi reassured that India’s strong ties with Iran would help ensure the safe and smooth passage of ships.
The arrival of this massive LPG consignment is expected to ease supply pressures and bring short-term relief to India’s energy sector.
