The Centre has increased the allocation of commercial LPG to 70% of pre–West Asia crisis levels, signaling a steady move towards normalcy in fuel availability.
Announcing the decision, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the step is aimed at supporting commercial sectors such as hotels, restaurants, and small industries that have been facing supply constraints.
He reassured that the government is actively monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to ensure stable and uninterrupted fuel supply across the country. Efforts are also underway to further scale up distribution in the coming weeks.
Putting an end to widespread speculation, Puri firmly dismissed rumours of a nationwide lockdown, calling them “completely false” and urging the public to avoid misinformation.
With supply levels improving and clarity from the government, the move is expected to ease market pressure and restore confidence among businesses and consumers alike.
