New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions in West Asia and growing concerns over their global impact, the Centre has convened a crucial all-party meeting at 5 PM today. The session will be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to skip the discussions. Senior leaders including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and key ministry officials will brief political parties on the evolving geopolitical situation and its implications for India.
The meeting comes as the Iran–Israel–US tensions continue to disrupt global trade and energy supply chains, raising concerns of a potential fuel and energy crisis in the country. While the opposition has agreed to attend, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is likely to be absent due to Sonia Gandhi’s ill health. The move has also sparked criticism, with opposition leaders questioning the need for a separate meeting instead of a full-fledged discussion in Parliament during the ongoing session.
