Thiruvananthapuram: In a much-awaited update, the Election Commission of India has officially released the final polling figures for the 16th Kerala Legislative Assembly election, revealing a robust 78.27% voter turnout across the state.
Emerging as the frontrunner, Kundamangalam in Kozhikode district recorded the highest turnout at 84.83%, reflecting strong voter participation. Chittur followed in second place, with Kunnathunadu securing the third spot among high-performing constituencies.
At the other end of the spectrum, Ranni reported the lowest turnout at 68.99%, marking a notable gap compared to the state’s top-performing regions.
The delay in releasing the polling data had sparked concerns over transparency. Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan had formally raised the issue with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, calling for the timely publication of voter turnout and postal voting statistics.
Responding to these concerns, the Election Commission has now made the data public, aiming to reinforce transparency and trust in the electoral process.
