Thiruvananthapuram: A severe heatwave is tightening its grip across Kerala, with authorities issuing a Yellow Alert as temperatures are expected to rise by up to 3°C above normal in ten districts until April 14. The situation has already turned alarming, with Palakkad recording a scorching 40°C on the previous day. Weather officials warn that districts including Kollam, Kozhikode, and Kasaragod could see temperatures climb up to 38°C, while several others may hover around 36–37°C. Adding to the distress, high humidity levels are likely to make conditions even more uncomfortable, particularly in lowland areas. Health authorities have cautioned the public against prolonged exposure to intense sunlight, as it may lead to sunstroke, skin and eye problems, and other serious health issues, urging people to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions during this extreme weather spell.
