New Delhi: In a move aimed at restoring normalcy in Parliament, the Lok Sabha has lifted the suspension of eight opposition MPs, paving the way for their return to the House amid the ongoing Budget session.
The suspended lawmakers—seven from the Indian National Congress and one from the Communist Party of India (Marxist)—were barred on February 3 following allegations of unruly conduct and repeated disruptions during proceedings.
Their suspension had triggered sharp reactions from opposition parties, who criticized the move as harsh and detrimental to democratic debate. The government, however, had defended the action, citing the need to maintain order and ensure smooth functioning of the House.
With the decision now reversed, the MPs are set to rejoin parliamentary discussions, a step seen as an effort to ease political tensions and promote constructive engagement on key national issues.
The revocation is expected to improve the atmosphere in the House as crucial debates and legislative business continue in the remaining phase of the Budget session.
