Allegations of Scam in Fundraising for Overseas Prisoners: Dr. Rajeev Menon Urges PM to Order Probe

Rajeev And Nimisha Priya

Republican Party of India (RPI) Secretary General Dr. Rajeev Menon has alleged that fundraising efforts in Kerala—particularly those centered around individuals like Nimisha Priya—may be part of a larger scam or well-organized lobbying network.

Dr. Rajeev Menon claimed that collecting money in the name of overseas prisoners has become a “habit” in Kerala, raising serious concerns about transparency, misuse of public sentiment, and unequal treatment of thousands of Indian nationals imprisoned abroad.

“While one or two high-profile cases get massive public attention and fundraising drives, thousands of innocent Indians remain behind bars overseas without any support or voice,” Dr. Rajeev Menon said.

Calling it a “major scam,”Dr. Rajeev Menon has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to order an immediate and thorough probe into the teams and organizations behind such campaigns. A formal letter has been sent to both leaders requesting intervention.

“There needs to be a transparent inquiry into who is collecting the money, where it’s going, and why only selective cases are being promoted,” Dr. Rajeev Menon emphasized, warning against emotional exploitation for financial gains.

Dr. Rajeev Menon appealed to the public to exercise caution before contributing to such campaigns and stressed the need for equal justice and support for all Indians facing legal struggles abroad.
