RPI National Secretary General Dr. Rajeev Menon extended his wishes to all members on the 67th Foundation Day of the Republican Party of India. He expressed hope that the party will be able to lead India towards great progress with renewed energy. The Republican Party of India is a political party founded in 1957 by B.R. Ambedkar, a renaissance leader of the marginalized classes, an Indian jurist, scholar, and political leader of the underprivileged. Dr. Rajeev Menon stated that the Republican Party’s beginnings were rooted in Ambedkar’s dedication to uniting the marginalized by fighting against the Indian caste system and untouchability.

Since 2004, the Republican Party of India has been a component party of the ruling NDA. The party is led by Ramdas Athawale, who is the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment. The RPI has committees in all states across the country. It has been aligned with the NDA government at the center for the past three terms. Since 2016, Athawale has served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and since 2014, he has represented Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of India’s Parliament. Dr. Rajeev Menon added that the RPI stands with the Narendra Modi government to lead the nation towards greater development.
