Dr. Rajeev Menon has expressed his condolences over the tragic incident in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi town, where nine people died after consuming spurious liquor. Dr. Rajeev Menon, the National Organization General Secretary of the Republican Party, conveyed his regret over the unfortunate incident and emphasized that those found guilty will not be spared. He pointed out that serious lapses on the part of the government have led to the distribution of spurious liquor. Over forty people are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals.

Dr. Rajeev Menon stated that alcohol consumption is causing numerous families to suffer and that spurious liquor is being produced using chemicals meant for factories and hospitals. He held the government fully responsible for the disaster. He called for strengthened measures to prevent the manufacture, smuggling, and distribution of spurious liquor. Dr. Rajeev Menon urged the Excise Department to monitor the various spurious liquor centers in the district and take appropriate actions. He stressed the need for strict measures to combat illegal activities related to the production and distribution of spurious liquor and added that the tragedy could have been averted if the government had taken preventive steps.
