Kerala Braces for Widespread Summer Showers; Thunderstorm Alert Issed Across State

Rainfall 1

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to witness widespread summer rains today, offering much-needed relief from the recent spell of intense heat. The Meteorological Department has predicted strong afternoon showers accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusty winds in several parts of the state.
As rainfall activity intensifies, authorities have officially withdrawn the high-temperature warning. The cooling showers are expected to bring down soaring temperatures and improve overall weather conditions.
In a sign of the changing weather pattern, Pathanamthitta recorded 40 mm of rainfall yesterday. The department has also warned of isolated heavy downpours in the coming days.
A yellow alert has been issued for Kannur and Kasaragod districts tomorrow. The alert will expand to Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Wayanad the following day. By Saturday, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Ernakulam districts will also come under yellow alert.
Officials have advised residents to remain vigilant due to the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and strong winds, urging people to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
