Rain Relief on the Way: Yellow Alert in Four Kerala Districts Amid Ongoing Heat

Rainfall 1

Thiruvananthapuram: As Kerala continues to reel under intense heat, relief is on the horizon with the arrival of rain. The India Meteorological Department has forecast isolated heavy rainfall in four districts on Wednesday.

A Yellow Alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kannur, and Kasaragod, warning of strong rainfall in isolated areas. Heavy rain is defined as rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

Despite the expected showers, high temperatures continue to grip the state. However, no heatwave warning has been issued for Saturday and Sunday. Palakkad is likely to record the highest temperature, touching up to 40°C, while several other districts—including Kollam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kasaragod—are expected to experience temperatures between 36°C and 38°C.

Authorities have also issued heat-related Yellow Alerts across multiple districts, urging residents to remain cautious. Due to high humidity and soaring temperatures, most regions—except hilly areas—are expected to experience hot and uncomfortable weather conditions in the coming days.

Residents are advised to stay alert for sudden weather changes and take necessary precautions against both heat and heavy rainfall.
