Early Morning Classes Now Mandatory: Kerala Reschedules Vacation Sessions Amid Rising Heat

Thiruvananthapuram: Acting swiftly on concerns over extreme summer temperatures, the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has prompted a major rescheduling of vacation academic support classes across Kerala. From now on, classes will be held only between 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM, replacing the earlier schedule of 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, to ensure children are not exposed to harsh midday heat.

The decision comes after a strict directive that no classes should continue beyond 10:30 AM, citing safety risks posed by soaring temperatures. The last-minute change—issued just hours before classes were set to begin—has led to brief confusion among teachers, while schools are racing to inform parents and students.

Officials emphasized that the move is aimed at protecting children from heat-related health risks, as Kerala continues to experience intense summer conditions.
