Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala continue their roller-coaster ride, registering a fresh surge today. The price of gold has climbed by ₹360 per sovereign (8 grams), crossing the ₹1.12 lakh mark once again.
The current rate stands at ₹1,12,080 per sovereign, while the price per gram has increased by ₹45, reaching ₹14,010.
Just a day earlier, the market saw sharp fluctuations—prices jumped by ₹600 in the morning but fell by ₹480 by afternoon, reflecting ongoing uncertainty in the bullion market.
Global developments remain a major driving force behind the volatility. Easing tensions in West Asia, following ceasefire signals and remarks by Donald Trump, have influenced investor sentiment. At the same time, fluctuations in crude oil prices linked to regional conflicts are also impacting gold rates.
Despite the recent swings, gold had hit a record high of ₹1,31,160 per sovereign on January 29. Earlier, on December 23, gold prices crossed the ₹1 lakh milestone for the first time, marking a historic moment for the market.
