Thiruvananthapuram: A mix of heat and sudden rain is expected across Kerala today, as the India Meteorological Department predicts isolated showers along with continuing high temperature conditions.
Light rainfall is likely in parts of Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Wayanad, though no official rain alerts have been issued for any district. However, the weather could turn intense in isolated areas, with chances of moderate rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds blowing at speeds up to 40 km/h.
Authorities have warned that lightning poses a serious risk and urged people to remain cautious during sudden weather changes.
At the same time, the heat continues to tighten its grip. Temperatures are expected to soar up to 39°C in Palakkad, while Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Kozhikode may record highs of around 37°C. Across many regions, temperatures could rise 2–3°C above normal levels, adding to discomfort.
Residents are advised to stay prepared for both scorching heat and sudden downpours as Kerala experiences this contrasting weather pattern.
