Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across Kerala over the next two days, prompting a Yellow Alert in several districts. Pathanamthitta and Idukki are on alert for Saturday, while Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki will remain under alert on Sunday. Authorities have warned of isolated heavy showers, defined as rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours, urging residents to stay vigilant.
Along with intense rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are expected across the state through Sunday, with wind speeds reaching 40–50 km/h, before easing slightly early next week. Despite the rough weather, fishing activities along the Kerala–Karnataka–Lakshadweep coast remain unaffected for now. People living in vulnerable areas are advised to take precautions against possible flooding, lightning strikes, and gusty winds.
