Thiruvananthapuram: The facility for “home voting” in the state assembly elections has commenced from today (Monday) and will continue until April 4. This initiative is aimed at voters aged above 85 years and those with more than 40% disability. Only those who have submitted prior applications through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are eligible to cast their votes from home. The process is carried out with the assistance of mobile polling teams. Each polling team consists of a polling officer, two assistants, a micro observer, a videographer, and police personnel. Booth agents representing political parties will also be present during the voting process. Voters will be informed in advance about the date and time of the polling team’s visit. If the voter is unavailable during the first visit, a second opportunity will be scheduled with a new date and time. Additionally, constituency-wise lists of eligible home voters will be shared with political parties and candidates to ensure transparency in the process.
