Eid Celebrations Light Up Kerala; Gulf Marks Festival Amid Restrictions

Eid

Kochi: Joy and devotion fill the air across Kerala as people celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr (Cheriya Perunnal) today, bringing the holy month of Ramadan to a close. Mosques and Eidgahs across the state are fully prepared to host thousands of faithful for the special Eid prayers.

The festival was officially declared after the crescent moon was sighted in Parappanangadi, Malappuram, prompting religious leaders to confirm the celebration. Several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, are also observing Eid on the same day.

After 29 days of fasting and spiritual reflection, believers step into Eid with renewed faith and hearts filled with gratitude. The day is marked by prayers, acts of charity, and warm gatherings, symbolizing unity, compassion, and togetherness.

Meanwhile, Malayalis in Gulf nations are celebrating Eid under restrictions, turning it into a festival of resilience. Prayers are being held inside mosques, with no large open Eidgah gatherings allowed. Despite ongoing challenges and tensions in the region, the festive spirit remains unshaken, proving that the essence of Eid transcends boundaries and circumstances.
