Thiruvananthapuram: The official notification for the Legislative Assembly elections in Kerala will be issued today, marking the formal start of the election process. Notifications for Assembly elections in Assam and Puducherry will also be released on the same day. Following the announcement of the election schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect across the state.
Meanwhile, a crucial meeting of political parties convened by the State Election Office will be held this evening at 3 p.m. The meeting will outline key guidelines related to the Model Code of Conduct and other election procedures to ensure smooth conduct of the polls.
Chief Electoral Officer Ratan U Khelkar stated that the state machinery is fully prepared for the elections. He also noted that detailed guidelines for the general public will be explained during the meeting.
Earlier, the Chief Electoral Officer held discussions with the State Police Chief regarding law and order arrangements during the election period. Issues such as sensitive areas, potential law and order concerns, and security measures were reviewed. A detailed report on vulnerable polling booths and the deployment of central security forces has already been submitted to the Election Commission of India.
