Much-Needed Relief for Kerala: Rain Forecast to Ease Scorching Summer Heat

Thiruvananthapuram: After days of intense summer heat, Kerala is set to experience a welcome change in weather, with rain likely across several districts in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall from February 19 to 21, triggered by a low-pressure area that has formed over the southern Bay of Bengal and is moving west-northwestward. The system is expected to intensify further by February 18, increasing the chances of showers across the state.

Adding to the changing weather pattern, a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea is also influencing atmospheric conditions. As a result, light to moderate rain is likely in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta districts between February 19 and 21, while Idukki may receive rainfall on February 20 and 21.

February is typically marked by dry and warm conditions in Kerala, making this spell of rain a significant relief from the prevailing heat. However, authorities have cautioned that the sea could turn rough due to the evolving weather systems, urging coastal residents and fishermen to remain vigilant.
