Gold prices in the state have taken a sharp downward turn, offering much-needed relief to buyers. The price of one sovereign (8 grams) has fallen by ₹1,120 in a single day, bringing the rate down to ₹1,14,200. On a per gram basis, gold declined by ₹140 and is now priced at ₹14,340. Notably, the combined fall over the past two days has reached ₹2,070 per sovereign.
The previous fluctuation was recorded on Saturday, when gold had surged dramatically by ₹1,920 in a single session. The precious metal had touched a record high of ₹1,31,160 per sovereign on January 29, while December 23 marked the first time gold prices crossed the ₹1 lakh milestone.
Market observers point out that the ongoing volatility reflects movements in the global bullion market. With international trends directly influencing domestic prices, gold continues to fluctuate, keeping investors and buyers on close watch.
