The move follows recommendations by a government-appointed committee that reviewed existing service charges and cess, with its report expected to be submitted later this week.
Sources indicate that the committee has proposed revising the cess in line with current economic conditions, with the additional revenue earmarked for the welfare of artists. The government had already taken a decision in principle to raise the service charge, and the report is likely to be accepted without major changes.
