Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha Kerala State Chief Swami Bhadraanand Seeks High-Level Probe Into Theft and Ritual Violations at Sabarimala & Padmanabhaswamy Temples.
Swami Bhadrananda has levelled serious allegations against the administrations of both Sabarimala and Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, calling for an urgent and transparent investigation into repeated thefts, missing sacred objects, and ritual violations. Swami Bhadrananda demanded that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) examine the financial dealings and accountability of the Tantri families associated with the temples.
Raising grave concerns, Swami Bhadrananda claimed that all ritual violations at Sabarimala could only have happened with the knowledge of the Tantri family. Swami Bhadrananda also questioned how a film crew was allowed to enter the shrine years earlier without proper permission — an incident that, according to him, requires a detailed inquiry.
One of the most shocking revelations concerns a 12-kg gold plate engraved with “Harivarasanam,” donated by expatriate Malayalis in 2014, which has since gone missing. Despite assurances by the then Special Officer that it would be displayed for devotees, the plate remains untraceable. Swami Bhadrananda urged newly appointed Devaswom Board President Jayakumar IAS to clarify its whereabouts.
Despite being under one of the strongest security systems in the country, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple has witnessed a disturbing pattern of missing valuables, Swami Bhadrananda alleged. Among the items reported missing over the years are: A Navaratna ring, Precious gem-studded necklaces, Gold-plated conches, The rare Poovattaka ritual object, The silver rudraksha mala of Hanuman, A golden offering vessel, Gold ornaments from the Sreekovil door
Swami Bhadrananda noted that even though reports by Vinod Rai and Gopal Subramanium had highlighted irregularities, “mysterious forces” suppressed these findings. Some missing objects resurfaced under suspicious circumstances — such as gold items found buried in a heap of sand — raising further doubts about whether the retrieved quantities match the originals.
The Swami also criticised the temple administration for neglecting essential responsibilities, including the long-pending restoration of the main idol at Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
Calling for accountability, Swami Bhadrananda urged authorities and investigative agencies to bring full transparency to the functioning of both temples and uncover the truth behind years of unanswered questions and alleged mismanagement.
