Ernakulam: An emotionally charged condolence meeting held at the Ernakulam Town Hall saw an outpouring of tributes to the legendary Professor M.K. Sanu, hailed as a towering figure in Kerala’s literary and cultural landscape. Gokulam Gopalan, Chairman of the Gokulam Group and leading Sree Narayana institutions, described Prof. Sanu as a “multifaceted genius” whose influence spanned literature, education, philosophy, and public discourse. “I’ve lost not just a cultural icon but a deeply personal connection,” Gopalan said, remembering the late scholar as a writer, teacher, biographer, critic, and orator who illuminated Malayalam thought like an undying flame.

The event, organized by the CPI(M) Ernakulam District Committee, was presided over by State Law, Industries, and Coir Minister S. P. Rajeev, with the condolence resolution presented by CPI(M) District Secretary S. S. Satheesh. A distinguished panel of dignitaries—including CPI(M) stalwarts M. A. Baby, M. V. Govindan, ministers Dr. R. Bindu and P. Prasad, along with leaders from across the political spectrum and literary circles—shared heartfelt memories of Sanu’s intellectual brilliance and moral conviction.

The presence of figures such as K. V. Thomas, IUML leader Muhammad Shah, MLA T. J. Vinod, and Kochi Mayor M. Anilkumar underscored Prof. Sanu’s wide-reaching impact. Notable academics, including Maharaja’s College Principal Dr. Shabeela B. V., and writers like Tanuja Bhattathiripad also paid rich tributes. The gathering reflected Kerala’s collective respect for a man whose life and legacy continue to inspire generations.
