Thiruvananthapuram – The centenary celebration of the iconic 1925 meeting between Mahatma Gandhi and Sree Narayana Gurudevan at Sivagiri will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club. Organized by the Gurudeva Service Society, the commemorative event will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State George Kurian, and will begin with a spiritual benediction by Brahmashree Sandrananda Swami, former General Secretary of Sivagiri Mutt and current Secretary of Aruvippuram Mutt. Former BJP State President K. Surendran will deliver the centenary message.
The function will be presided over by R.C. Rajeev Das, with participation from prominent guests such as Dr. Rajeev Menon (Secretary General, Republican Party of India), Dr. K.K. Manojan (Vice Chairman, Gokulam Medical College), Radhakrishnan (Secretary, Thiruvananthapuram Press Club), and Dr. Suresh Pillai (Chairman, Social Care Foundation). Special greetings will be delivered by Rev. Fr. Caesar C.J. and Mannanam Suresh.
R. Sampath, the General Secretary of the Gurudeva Service Society, will deliver the welcome address, while Treasurer Satheesh Poongulam will extend the vote of thanks.
The event will honour outstanding individuals for their remarkable contributions; Dr. K.K. Manojan will be recognized for over two decades of dedicated service in the healthcare sector. Dr. Suresh Pillai will receive the Gurudeva Seva Award for his social service initiatives.The Gurudeva Media Award will be presented to R. Roshipal (Principal Correspondent, Reporter TV), Unfilit D’Souza (Regional Bureau Head, Amrita TV), and Kovalam Satheesh Kumar (Special Correspondent, Kerala Kaumudi). Jayashree Gopalakrishnan will be felicitated for her work in social service.
As part of the program, Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat health cards will be distributed to eligible beneficiaries, as announced by the organizers.
