Thiruvananthapuram, May 21: A high-impact training event blending cutting-edge radiology and advanced surgical techniques is set to take place on May 24 and 25 at the scenic Poovar Island Resort. Jointly organized by Sree Gokulam Medical College and G.G. Hospital in association with the Indian Chapter of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (IHPBA), the “Radiology Course in HPB Surgery” aims to upskill the next generation of surgeons and radiologists.
Targeting postgraduate students and young consultants in gastro, general surgery, and radiology, the course is designed to deliver the latest scientific insights along with hands-on practical training. A major attraction of the event will be live intraoperative ultrasound training, crucial for making precise, real-time decisions in complex HPB surgeries.
The two-day event will also feature sessions led by renowned national and international experts, who will share real-world clinical experiences and techniques in diagnostic and interventional radiology — vital components of modern HPB surgery.
The course will be inaugurated by Gokulam Group Chairman Gokulam Gopalan, with Vice Chairman Dr. K.K. Manojan and Managing Director Dr. Sheeja G. Manojan also attending the opening ceremony.
Organizers emphasized that the initiative underscores Gokulam Group’s commitment to innovation in medical education. They hope the program will serve as a model for future multidisciplinary training collaborations between radiology and surgery departments across the country.
