State Govt. Submits Report After Fatal Bus Accident in Menaka
Kochi: In a stern move against reckless driving, the Kerala High Court has called for immediate and strict action after a tragic accident in Menaka claimed the life of a woman, allegedly due to rash driving by private buses.
During a hearing on road safety, the court slammed driver negligence and urged rigorous enforcement of traffic laws to prevent further mishaps. In response, the state government presented an action-taken report, highlighting enhanced surveillance, harsher penalties, and awareness campaigns targeting bus operators.
The court further instructed the Motor Vehicles Department and law enforcement agencies to intensify inspections of public transport vehicles and ensure strict compliance with safety norms. The matter will be reviewed again to evaluate the effectiveness of these measures.
