The Kerala High Court has appointed a five-member monitoring committee, headed by retired High Court Judge Justice K. Ramakrishnan, to oversee the SNDP Yogam election. The committee includes Adv. Sunil Mundapally, A. Somarajan, Adv. N.D. Premachandran, and Adv. P.P. Madhusoodanan.
As a preliminary step for the election, on August 8, 2024, the Kerala High Court directed SNDP Yogam to collect membership details from all branch meetings. However, SNDP was able to collect lists from only 427 branch meetings out of the 10 unions. SNDP Yogam then requested an additional six weeks to complete the collection process. On September 10, the court adjourned the case to September 25 for further arguments.
During the hearing on September 30, it was revealed that SNDP had gathered membership lists from 2368 branch meetings across 52 unions. SNDP Yogam requested an extension of six months to collect the remaining lists from 67 unions. However, the High Court rejected this request, stating that the delay was unjustified. The court noted that only ID proof needed to be added to the existing lists, and this would not require an extended period.
The High Court ordered SNDP to submit the compiled lists to the committee and to issue instructions to collect the remaining lists from other branches. The lists should be submitted to the committee, which will determine how much time is needed to finalize the voter list. The court also gave the committee an opportunity to seek further instructions if needed. Additionally, the High Court directed the committee to submit an interim report by October 28, 2024, if possible.
