US Nears Goals in Iran Conflict, Signals Possible End; Trump Warns Over Strait of Hormuz

Washington: The United States is considering bringing its military involvement with Iran to an end, with President Donald Trump stating that the country is “close to achieving its objectives.” Speaking via his platform Truth Social, Trump indicated that Washington may soon scale down operations in West Asia after making significant strategic gains.

Issuing a stern warning over the vital Strait of Hormuz, Trump said the US would no longer take sole responsibility for its security. He stressed that nations relying on the route must protect it themselves, though American support could be extended if requested.

Amid rising tensions, the United Kingdom had allowed the US to use military facilities linked to Diego Garcia for potential strikes on Iranian targets. However, Trump remarked that the UK’s approval came later than expected, despite strong bilateral ties.

Reacting sharply, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized the move as dangerous, accusing UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer of putting lives at risk. He warned that Iran would not hesitate to exercise its right to self-defense if provoked.

The situation continues to evolve, with global attention fixed on whether the conflict will de-escalate in the coming days.
