Eid Prayers Restricted to Mosques in UAE & Qatar Amid Rising Tensions

Eid

Dubai: In the wake of escalating tensions across West Asia, authorities in United Arab Emirates and Qatar have decided to limit Eid prayers to mosques only as a precautionary security measure. Large public gatherings such as Eidgah prayers and open-ground congregations have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, reports of explosion-like sounds in Dubai have surfaced, but officials have reassured residents that the country’s air defense systems are fully prepared and there is no cause for concern.

Amid growing geopolitical tensions, Anwar Gargash, advisor to the UAE President, indicated that the country may support United States efforts to secure the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz. He also confirmed that there are currently no ongoing discussions with Iran.

On the diplomatic front, Narendra Modi held talks with the UAE President regarding peace efforts in the region, including maritime security and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

At the same time, the United States Central Command has intensified military operations, reportedly launching major strikes targeting missile depots along the Hormuz coast, including the use of bunker-buster bombs.

In Washington, Lindsey Graham expressed disappointment over the reluctance of European allies to support the US against Iran, criticizing their stance as inadequate in addressing the threat of nuclear weapons development.

However, European leaders have maintained a cautious approach. Emmanuel Macron stated that France would only assist in escorting ships through the Strait after the conflict ends. Germany has also clarified that the situation is not a NATO matter. Countries including Japan, Australia, Poland, Spain, Greece, and Sweden have also stayed away from direct military involvement in the region.

As tensions continue, the situation remains highly sensitive, with global powers closely monitoring developments in the Gulf.
