Thiruvananthapuram: The Republican Party of India (RPI) has called for a central investigation into alleged large-scale irregularities and looting in Kerala’s temples. In a letter sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, RPI’s Secretary General Dr. Rajeev Menon urged that all government-controlled temples in the state be thoroughly examined by a team of experts from Delhi.
Dr. Rajeev Menon stated that “almost all temples in Kerala have been looted,” adding that temple valuables appear to have been “systematically taken away.” Dr. Rajeev Menon demanded that a five-member expert committee be dispatched from the Centre to conduct a comprehensive audit and inspection of temple properties across the state.
The RPI leader expressed concern that the places said to be under “protection” are, in reality, being misused and that Hindu places of worship are increasingly coming under the control of non-Hindus. Dr. Rajeev Menon cautioned that such a situation “should never be allowed to repeat in Kerala.”
Dr. Rajeev Menon emphasized that central intervention is essential to safeguard the faith and heritage of millions of devotees and to restore transparency and trust in the management of Kerala’s temples.
