Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is learnt to be considering its next course of action in the CMRL–Exalogic financial transactions case, including whether to question former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, following the statement recorded from former CMRL official Sasidharan Kartha, sources familiar with the investigation said.
According to the sources, the agency is examining Kartha’s statement alongside financial records, contractual documents and other material collected during the course of the investigation. The probe is centred on payments allegedly made by Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd. (CMRL) to Exalogic Solutions and whether the transactions were supported by legitimate business arrangements and services.
The ED is also understood to be analysing additional documentary and digital evidence relating to the role of Veena Vijayan in the case. Investigators are assessing whether the available material establishes any violation under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
There has been no official confirmation from the ED regarding any decision to summon or question Mr. Vijayan. The agency has also not disclosed any findings arising from the investigation.
The CMRL–Exalogic case has attracted significant public and political attention in Kerala. The investigation remains in progress, and no charges have been established through judicial proceedings. As with any ongoing investigation, the allegations are subject to the outcome of the legal process.
