Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to witness a surge in summer rains, bringing much-needed relief from scorching heat—but also raising safety concerns. The weather department has forecast widespread rainfall across the state, with a Yellow Alert declared in key districts.

Today, alerts are in place for Kasaragod, Kannur, and Idukki, where heavy rain is likely in isolated areas. Residents are also warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds reaching up to 50 km/h.

The unsettled weather is expected to persist over the next few days:

Tomorrow: Yellow Alert in Wayanad, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta
Saturday: Yellow Alert in Wayanad, Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Alappuzha

Meteorologists indicate that isolated heavy rainfall may continue until May 2, urging the public to remain cautious, especially during lightning activity and gusty winds.

As rain clouds gather, the state is already feeling a noticeable dip in temperature, offering a brief respite from the intense summer heat.
