Kerala Braces for Heavy Showers from Wednesday; Yellow Alerts Across Key Districts

Rain

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to witness a spell of intense rainfall starting Wednesday, with the India Meteorological Department issuing fresh warnings for the coming days. A five-day rain forecast indicates the likelihood of isolated heavy showers across the state, prompting Yellow Alerts in several districts.

The IMD defines heavy rainfall as precipitation ranging between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within a 24-hour period—conditions that could lead to localized disruptions.

On Wednesday, Pathanamthitta and Idukki will be on alert. The warning shifts northward on Thursday to Kannur and Kasaragod. By Friday, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, and Wayanad are expected to face heightened rainfall activity.

With the monsoon-like conditions building up, authorities urge residents to stay cautious, particularly in hilly and low-lying regions where heavy rain may trigger landslides or waterlogging.

As Kerala gears up for wet days ahead, preparedness and vigilance will be key to staying safe.
