New Chapter in Kerala Politics: Hindustani Awam Morcha Joins NDA, Announces Major Overhaul

In a notable political shift, the Kerala unit of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) has officially joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), signaling a fresh beginning and a new direction in the state’s political landscape.

The move, led by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and national president Santosh Suman, is being seen as a strategic step to strengthen the party’s presence in Kerala. Senior state leaders, including Chairman Mathew Stephen (former MLA), State Coordinator Niyas V, Chief General Secretary Shiva Shankar, and Organisation General Secretary Sherif Babu, formally received NDA membership from Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

With this alliance, the party aims to actively work towards people’s rights, social justice, inclusive development, and youth empowerment, aligning its vision with that of the NDA.

At the same time, the party has initiated a sweeping organisational restructuring. The leadership cited serious concerns over the previous administration under former state president Sibi George, pointing to failures, anti-party activities, and unauthorized actions that led to confusion and loss of trust among party members. Additional interference from certain central leaders and factions of merged parties further worsened the situation.

Taking strict action, the party expelled Sibi George, dissolved the existing state committee, and cancelled its merger with a smaller allied party. The central leadership made it clear that discipline and core values would not be compromised under any circumstances.

Looking ahead, the party has expressed strong confidence in expanding its organisational base across Kerala, adopting an inclusive approach, and emerging as a more powerful political force in the state.
