High temp

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala continues to reel under intense heat as the India Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert in 12 districts, warning of soaring temperatures and rising discomfort levels.

According to the IMD, temperatures could climb up to 38°C in Kollam, Kottayam, and Palakkad. Districts such as Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and Kannur are likely to record temperatures up to 37°C.

In Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, and Kasaragod, temperatures may rise to 36°C, which is 2–3°C above normal levels.

The IMD has warned that high humidity combined with rising temperatures could lead to oppressive and uncomfortable weather conditions, especially in non-hilly areas. Residents are urged to stay alert, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun as the state braces for continued heatwave conditions.
