Kerala Braces for Scorching Heat: Yellow Alert in 11 Districts, Public Advised Caution

Temperature

Kochi: Rising temperatures continue to grip Kerala, prompting authorities to issue a Yellow Alert in 11 districts due to intense heat conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned residents to remain vigilant against the harsh weather.

According to the forecast, temperatures in Kollam, Kottayam, and Palakkad districts are likely to soar up to 37°C over the next two days. Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur may experience temperatures reaching up to 36°C.

The combination of high temperatures and humid conditions is expected to cause hot and uncomfortable weather, especially in non-hilly regions. Authorities have urged people to take necessary precautions.

Health experts warn that extreme heat can lead to serious issues such as heatstroke, sunburn, and dehydration. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and take adequate safety measures.

Despite the heatwave conditions, the IMD has also indicated the possibility of isolated thunderstorms with lightning in some parts of the state today.

Meanwhile, there are no restrictions on fishing activities along the Kerala–Karnataka–Lakshadweep coasts, offering some relief to the fishing community.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and urge the public to stay updated with official advisories.
