Palakkad: Commuters travelling through the Walayar Toll Plaza and Panniyankara Toll Plaza will have to pay more from April 1, as authorities have issued orders revising the toll rates. The new charges will come into effect from midnight on March 31.
Officials issued the order early, reportedly keeping in mind the possible announcement of upcoming Assembly elections.
As per the revised rates, cars and light commercial vehicles will see a ₹5 increase (around 3%) for a one-way trip. The same-day return fare will also rise by ₹5.
The toll for light commercial vehicles and mini buses has been increased from ₹130 to ₹135. Trucks and buses will also face a similar hike for single journeys.
For three to six axle trucks, the toll will go up by ₹10, while heavy vehicles with seven or more axles will have to pay ₹15 more.
Meanwhile, the monthly pass for 50 single trips for cars and other small vehicles has been revised from ₹2,710 to ₹2,775. The monthly pass for local residents has also been increased from ₹350 to ₹360.
The revised toll structure is expected to impact thousands of daily commuters and transport vehicles passing through these key entry points to Kerala.
