Malappuram: In a major boost to morale within the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Transport Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar has announced that all eligible employees will soon receive promotions. An official order is expected to be issued within the next two days.
Highlighting that a large number of employees across various categories are set to retire this year, the minister said the resulting vacancies will pave the way for long-pending promotions. Many of the current staff members have put in decades of service, and elevating them to higher posts will not only reward their dedication but also strengthen the efficiency and operational performance of the corporation.
Ganesh Kumar also revealed that a modern vehicle scrap centre to be launched in Edappal will bring significant benefits to the state. The facility will scrap vehicles — including private ones — using eco-friendly, pollution-free technology. The initiative is expected to help Kerala secure nearly ₹150 crore under the Centre’s policy incentives.
Addressing the recent controversy involving Sabarimala pilgrims being dropped in a forest area at night, the minister confirmed that initial action has been taken against the KSRTC driver and conductor concerned. A detailed inquiry is underway, and strict action will follow against those found responsible.
Reaffirming political stability, the minister said Kerala Congress (B) continues to work in harmony with the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF). Describing the alliance as secular and pro-people, he expressed satisfaction in being part of what he called a government committed to workers and the underprivileged.
