Kerala is set to witness spells of rain over the next three days as evolving weather systems gather strength over surrounding seas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall from Thursday to Saturday, with Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta districts likely to receive showers between the 19th and 21st, and Idukki expected to see rainfall on the 20th and 21st.
A low-pressure area that developed over the equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining south-central Bay of Bengal has now moved west-northwestwards and is positioned over the southwest Bay of Bengal and nearby equatorial waters. Weather officials indicate that the system could strengthen further by February 18 as it continues its west-northwest movement.
Adding to the weather activity, a cyclonic circulation persists over the southeast Arabian Sea off the south Kerala coast at about 0.9 km above sea level. The combined impact of these systems is expected to enhance cloud formation and trigger rainfall across parts of the state. Authorities have urged residents to stay updated with official advisories as weather conditions evolve.
