Pension

Thiruvananthapuram: Bringing relief to millions across the state, Kerala will begin disbursing this month’s social security and welfare fund pensions from February 25. Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal announced that ₹1,050 crore has been sanctioned for the distribution, benefiting nearly 62 lakh people who will receive ₹2,000 each.

Of the total beneficiaries, 26.62 lakh individuals will have the pension amount directly credited to their bank accounts. The remaining recipients will receive the amount at their doorstep through cooperative banks, while welfare fund members will be paid via their respective boards. Notably, for 8.46 lakh beneficiaries under the National Pension Scheme, the Centre’s share of ₹24.21 crore—yet to be received—has been advanced by the State Government to avoid delays. The amount will be credited to accounts through the Union Government’s PFMS (Public Financial Management System), ensuring timely support to those in need.
