Gold Takes a Dip: Price Slips Below ₹1.15 Lakh Per Sovereign After Sharp Fluctuations

Gold Rate

Kochi: After days of dramatic swings, gold prices in the state have recorded a notable decline. The price per sovereign dropped by ₹960 in a single day, settling at ₹1,14,720—bringing it below the ₹1.15 lakh mark. The rate per gram also fell by ₹120, with gold now priced at ₹14,340 per gram.

The dip follows a turbulent week in the bullion market. On Friday, prices had fallen by ₹2,400 in two phases, only to rebound sharply by ₹1,920 on Saturday. The highest-ever price of ₹1,31,160 per sovereign was recorded on January 29, while December 23 marked the first time gold crossed the ₹1 lakh milestone. Analysts say ongoing fluctuations in the global market continue to influence local prices, keeping investors and buyers on edge as gold moves up and down unpredictably.
