Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s extensive Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll has reached its final stage, with hearing procedures set to conclude tomorrow. The exercise, aimed at ensuring a clean and accurate voters’ list ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, has already been completed in 101 constituencies across the state, according to the Election Commission of India.

Authorities confirmed that the hearing process has achieved 100 percent completion in five districts — Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Kasaragod and Palakkad — marking a significant milestone in the state-wide revision drive.

Official figures reveal that 3,689,057 voters participated in the hearing proceedings. As a result of the scrutiny, 28,158 names have been removed from the draft electoral roll, including 3,522 deceased individuals, 1,361 people who have acquired foreign citizenship, and 23,275 voters who have shifted residence.

In a notable achievement, hearings were fully completed in all three polling stations of Edamalakkudy, Kerala’s only tribal grama panchayat, ensuring that every eligible voter there has been duly included in the revised list.

The final SIR electoral roll will be published on February 21, forming the official voters’ list for this year’s Kerala Assembly elections. With the revision process nearing its end, election authorities have emphasized that the updated roll reflects a transparent and rigorous effort to maintain the integrity of the democratic process.
