Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) marked a major milestone in its growth journey as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the first phase of the ambitious CIAL Aeropark project, positioning Kochi firmly on the map as an emerging aviation hub of India. Developed across 36 acres at a cost of ₹101 crore, the Aeropark brings together six key projects aimed at strengthening aviation-related industries, advanced training, and technical services under one integrated ecosystem.
Industries Minister P Rajeeve said the project reflects CIAL’s transformation from a conventional airport operator into a diversified business and aviation services powerhouse. The minister noted that initiatives such as the Aeropark, convention centres, and upgraded leisure facilities highlight this shift, while CIAL’s strong financial performance has enabled it to distribute one of the highest dividends among airport operators in the country. Emphasising inclusive development, The minister added that employee welfare, fair resolution of land-related issues, and community engagement have remained central to CIAL’s progress.
The Aeropark’s standout facility is the ₹30-crore CIAL Business Centre, a premium co-working space spread over 40,000 square feet. Uniquely operated directly by the airport company, the centre can host more than 400 professionals at a time and provide workspace for around 30 companies with cutting-edge amenities. Also completed are a ₹13-crore Technical Services Facility enhancing CIAL’s self-reliance, and India’s largest aviation breathing apparatus training gallery, featuring an advanced maze-based rescue training system.
Further boosting the Aeropark’s profile, several high-value projects are nearing completion, including Kerala’s first covered aircraft parking hangar with an investment of ₹40 crore, an aviation pressure-fed firefighting system costing ₹8 crore, and an underwater rescue training facility worth ₹3 crore. Together, these initiatives underscore CIAL Aeropark’s role as a game-changer, driving innovation, safety, and business opportunities in India’s aviation sector.
