Dr. Rajeev Menon, National Secretary General of the Republican Party of India (RPI), has expressed profound grief over the passing of Pope Francis, describing him as a global symbol of compassion, inclusivity, and unwavering commitment to social justice.
In his tribute, Dr. Menon highlighted the Pope’s courageous stand with the marginalized, his bridge-building efforts across religious communities, and his fierce criticism of global capitalism. “Pope Francis wasn’t just a religious leader—he was the voice of the voiceless, a fearless advocate for the poor, the homeless, and the forgotten,” said Dr. Menon.
The Pope’s vocal support for Palestinian rights and his emotional appeals for peace, especially in conflict zones, were also commended.
Calling him “a champion of interfaith harmony,” Dr. Menon emphasized the Pope’s global call to confront poverty, climate change, and environmental degradation as a unified human family. “His vision transcended religious boundaries—he urged us to respond to global challenges with collective compassion and courage,” he noted.
Dr. Menon also remembered Pope Francis’ firm opposition to capitalist systems that perpetuate inequality, stating, “He envisioned an economy rooted not in profit, but in human dignity and collective welfare.”
“In a world plagued by division and indifference, Pope Francis stood as a shining light of hope, empathy, and moral clarity. His life will forever inspire those who dream of a just and peaceful world,” Dr. Menon said, offering his deepest condolences.
